WATCH USHER BATTLE JAMES CORDEN IN SEXIEST VOCALISTS ALIVE RIFF-OFF

A call for more sensual vocalists lead to comedic glory on Thursday night’s (Oct. 12) episode of “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” When the host and comedian claimed that he was probably the sexiest male vocalist alive, Usher surprised the audience to dispel his ludicrous claim.

“Well I’m alive,” Usher said. “Let’s be honest: when people imagine smooth, sensual, sexual, soulful voices, you know, are they gonna picture a guy like you or do they think of a guy like me — Usher?”

“Are you sure you’re ready for this? Because let me tell you — it’s about to get sensual in a way that I don’t think you understand,” Corden warned Ush before launching into K-Ci & JoJo’s “All My Life.” Usher, no stranger to the game, clapped back by suggesting “someone get this guy a Tic Tac” after Corden sang a bit too closely to his face. He then showcases his chops witha stellar rendition of Marvin Gaye’s “Mercy Mercy Me.”

“Peace up, A-town down,” Usher said. “Just wiped the floor with Corden.” James didn’t take kindly to that, prompting some bickering between the two before actor Luke Evans came out to settle things down. “I’m sorry, but do you guys think this is sexy?” Evans asked. “Because there’s nothing sexy about what’s happening here.”

Evans threw his voice in the ring by crushing Foreigner’s mega-ballad “I Want to Know What Love Is.” “Well, well, well,” Corden said after Evans finished, “OK, OK — I guess what they say is true. No one sings like Gaston.” (Evans plays Gaston in Beauty and the Beast)
